Liverpool reportedly eye a move for Portuguese starlet Fabio Vieira after he was named player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship.

Liverpool could reportedly set their sights on a move for Porto starlet Fabio Vieira.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Primeira Liga giants last term, making 29 appearances in all competitions and banking one goal and one assist.

Vieira also played a prominent role in Portugal's run to the Under-21 European Championship final - assisting his side's winner against Spain in the semi-final - and he played the full 90 minutes in the final as Portugal suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Germany.

After being named player of the tournament at the Under-21 Euros, the Liverpool Echo speculates that the Reds could look to swoop for Vieira this summer.

Vieira was previously linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window, and with his deal expiring in 12 months' time, the prospect of a cut-price move could be appealing for interested parties.

The Portuguese playmaker rose through the youth ranks at Porto and has enjoyed a prolific stint with Portugal's Under-21s side, netting six goals and assisting two more in 12 international appearances.
