Ben Roberts, best known for playing Detective Inspector Derek Conway in The Bill, has died at the age of 70.
The actor was an integral part of the ITV police drama for more than 13 years, appearing from 1987 until 2000, when Conway was killed off in a car bomb attack.
In a statement on Twitter, Roberts's agency LCM said: "Remembering the wonderful Ben Roberts who sadly passed away on Monday.
"Best known as Chief Inspector Derek Conway in The Bill & he had an extensive career in theatre, TV & film.
"Our thoughts are with his wife Helen & family at this time."
Roberts's other roles included Casualty, Doctors and the 2019 movie Daniel.
