Alastair Stewart reveals that he has suffered a broken hip as a result of being knocked over by a horse.

Alastair Stewart has revealed that he will be taking time off GB News as he recovers from a broken hip.

The veteran news presenter, 69, hosts a discussion show, Alastair Stewart and Friends, for the channel on weekend afternoons and is also a relief presenter during the week.

Posting on Twitter this morning, he revealed: "I won't be hosting Alastair Stewart and Friends on GB News this weekend due to... a broken hip!

"I fear it'll be a while but I'll be back! Thanks for kindness and support to all at GB News, the brilliant Anita and my extraordinary family."

Asked by a fan how the injury occurred, he replied: "I was leading in one of the horses & she bolted, knocking me over - rather forcefully!"

The news comes after it emerged that Stewart's fellow weekend presenter Guto Harri has been suspended by the broadcaster for taking the knee live on air earlier this week.
