Guto Harri 'suspended by GB News after knee gesture'
GB News presenter Guto Harri is reportedly suspended by the channel after he took the knee live on air.

Guto Harri has reportedly been suspended by GB News after he took the knee live on air earlier this week.

During a segment discussing the racial abuse suffered by England players, the presenter made the impromptu gesture to take the knee in solidarity with an anti-racism message.

In a statement on Thursday night, the broadcaster described Harri's gesture as "an unacceptable breach" of the channel's editorial standards.

"GB News stands four square against racism in all its forms," the statement on Twitter said. "We do not have a company line on taking the knee. Some of our guests have been in favour, some against. All are anti-racist. We have editorial standards that all GB News journalists uphold.

"On Tuesday a contributing presenter took the knee live on air and this was an unacceptable breach of our standards. We let both sides of the argument down by oversimplifying a very complex issue."

According to The Guardian, Harri - a weekend and fill-in host - has been "indefinitely taken off air" following a viewer backlash over the incident.

The newspaper also claims that "other staff [are] considering leaving amid management upheaval" and plans are afoot for a relaunch just one month after the channel launched.

GB News is available almost universally across the UK, with carriage on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media.
