Two men have been found dead in an apparent double suicide at the mansion where legendary fashion designer Gianni Versace was murdered 24 years ago.
Versace was shot dead outside his home by serial killer Andrew Cunanan on the morning of July 15, 1997 on Ocean Drive in Miami, Florida.
The mansion now operates as a hotel and the discovery of two bodies came one day before the anniversary of Versace's death at the same location.
In a statement on Twitter, Miami Beach Police said: "Death Investigation: This afternoon, at 1:21 p.m., MBPD responded to 1116 Ocean Drive after receiving a call from housekeeping advising of two deceased males.
"Police and Fire Rescue responded and located two deceased males inside of a hotel room.
"The preliminary investigation revealed this incident was an apparent double suicide. The ultimate cause of death will be determined by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office."
The events surrounding Versace's murder were recently dramatised in the acclaimed miniseries The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
