Three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty qualifies for the Tokyo 2024 Olympics with a brilliant run in the 100m breaststroke at the British Championships.

Three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty booked his ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics with a scintillating performance in the men's 100m breaststroke at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships.

Two months on from winning bronze in the event at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, the Rio and Tokyo champion set a world leading time for 2024 with just 57.94 seconds on the board.

Peaty had outlined his desire to compete at the Paris Olympics since taking time out from the sport to prioritise his mental health and seek help for alcohol problems, and his title-winning run in London saw him punch his ticket to the 2024 Games.

The 29-year-old only required a time of 59.45 seconds to meet the British nomination standard for the Olympics, but even his 58.53 run in the heats would have sufficed before he achieved the fastest time of the calendar year so far.

Elsewhere, Scotland's Keanna Macinnes also made the nomination time in the women's 200m butterfly race with 2:07.24, as did Laura Stephens, who finished 0.13 seconds worse off than the champion in second spot.

Freya Colbert (1:56.22) and Abbie Wood (1:56.62) met the standard in the women's 200m freestyle final, but men's 400m freestyle winner Kieran Bird missed the Paris nomination mark by two-tenths of a second.
