Preview: Swansea City vs. Coventry City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Swansea City and Coventry City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Championship playoff hopefuls Coventry City travel to last season's beaten playoff finalists Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

The Sky Blues are currently three points behind the top six in 10th, while the Swans have not been in the promotion race this year and sit 16th.

Substitute Fabio Tavares popped up with a 98th-minute equaliser for Coventry in their 1-1 draw against Preston North End last weekend.

The Sky Blues had gone behind in the 89th minute, but the Portuguese forward came off the bench to secure what Mark Robins hailed as "a big point".

Coventry have lost just one of their last six matches as they continue to stay within touching distance of the top six.

A crucial week lies ahead for Robins's side as after their trip to south Wales, they host fellow playoff contenders Luton Town and Sheffield United.

The Sky Blues have failed to beat Swansea in their last 12 meetings since October 1981, while they have not won away at the Welsh club in eight attempts since January 1950.

Early goals from Jamie Paterson and Joel Piroe helped Swansea to a 2-1 win at the CBS Arena in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Russell Martin's side have alternated between winning and losing over the last six matches, beating West Bromwich Albion 2-0 away from home last weekend.

Top scorer Piroe found the net again and flying full-back Cyrus Christie scored his second goal in three games.

The Swans, who have won three of their last four home matches, are now targeting back-to-back victories for the first time since the start of November.

Only three Championship teams have scored fewer goals this season than Swansea, who host league leaders Fulham on Tuesday night.

Team News

With no fresh injury concerns, Russell Martin could name an unchanged Swansea team in an attempt to record back-to-back wins.

January signing Nathanael Ogbeta is back in full training following a hamstring injury, but is still a couple of weeks away from featuring.

Joel Piroe has netted twice in his last three appearances after finding the net just once in his previous 11.

Coventry will be without right-back Fankaty Dabo after he was sent off against Preston last weekend.

Kyle McFadzean and Michael Rose continue to battle for the final spot in the back three alongside Dominic Hyam and Jake Clarke-Salter.

Matt Godden has made a quicker recovery than expected after having his appendix removed and Mark Robins did not rule out a return for the striker this weekend.

Swansea City possible starting lineup:
Fisher; Naughton, Cabango, Manning; Wolf, Downes, Grimes, Christie; Piroe, Obafemi, Paterson

Coventry City possible starting lineup:
Moore; Hyam, Clarke-Salter, McFadzean; Kane, Hamer, Sheaf, Maatsen; O'Hare, Allen; Gyokeres

We say: Swansea City 1-1 Coventry City

Both of these clubs have been hard to predict in recent weeks and although Coventry are in slightly better form, we think they will be held to a draw on the road by a Swansea side who are strong at home.
