Sebastian Vettel has suggested that a return to racing in Formula 1 or elsewhere is highly improbable, as he embraces a fulfilling life outside the sport.
The retired quadruple world champion was recently named by Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko as the ideal candidate to succeed him in his influential role.
"I think Sebastian has found himself and now knows what he wants to do in the future—and that is primarily motorsport," said Marko, 81.
The Austrian, Marko, hinted that his long tenure in Formula 1 is nearing its end, stating, "No decision has been made yet, but it's also quite clear. At some point, it won't be possible anymore—also due to age. The travel rigours are also not insignificant."
Vettel did not dismiss the possibility of taking on Marko's advisory role, but he remained non-committal, telling Sky Deutschland, "We're still working out what it could look like. I don't want to impose myself."
The 37-year-old German, who retired from Aston Martin and Formula 1 at the end of 2022, has occasionally teased the idea of returning to the cockpit.
However, he now appears settled in his post-racing life. "I have managed to find a rhythm outside of Formula 1," Vettel said. "And I have managed to keep the peace in the family. I have gotten used to my new life."
The winner of 53 grands prix spends most of his time at home with his wife and three young children, attending only occasional F1-related events. "I've learned a lot about myself during this time," he said.
"I'm very content, and I don't get bored."
Addressing the prospect of racing again, Vettel smiled, "My children have told me that I am not allowed to race anymore because they like me so much. That is wonderful to hear."
