Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly lining up a double swoop for two Benfica players when their proposed takeover goes through.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly lined up a move for two Benfica players when their proposed takeover goes through.

The Championship side is thought to be close to announcing a takeover by Chinese billionaire Robin Li in a deal that is being coordinated by renowned football agent Jorge Mendes and will see manager Kenny Jackett replaced by ex-Porto coach Julen Lopetegui.

According to A Bola, Lopetegui is already lining up transfer targets in conjunction with Mendes and has made enquiries for Helder Costa and Pele, both from Primeira Liga champions Benfica.

Winger Costa, 22, spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 heavyweights Monaco, while midfielder Pele, 24, has had spells with AC Milan and Genoa.

Monaco forward Ivan Cavaleiro is also thought to be on Lopetegui's radar, while Liverpool target Anderson Talisca could be the subject of a surprise £21m move.

An announcement of Li's takeover was expected last week but was reportedly delayed by paperwork issues.
