England captain Harry Kane trains with the Three Lions on Wednesday after concerns over an ankle problem.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has revealed that Three Lions captain Harry Kane trained with the national side on Wednesday, with the striker expected to be fit for Friday's World Cup clash with the USA.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward was replaced in the latter stages of England's 6-2 win over Iran on Monday after picking up a blow to his ankle.

Kane underwent a scan in the aftermath of the incident, and there were fears that he would be unavailable for selection in the team's second match of the tournament.

However, Pickford has said that the Three Lions skipper was "out on the grass" on Wednesday, with the forward in good shape despite being "a little bit sore".

"Yeah I think he's good, obviously a little bit sore, but I think he's fine, he was out on the grass with us. It's good because he's our captain," Pickford told reporters.

"I think everyone took their chance when Harry came off, Callum (Wilson) came on and played really well and got the assist for Jack (Grealish) and was very unselfish.

"Everyone's training really hard and everyone's here for a reason. But obviously Harry is an unbelievable player, he sets an example in the squad. He's the leader, he's the captain and we all look up to him but there are opportunities for the other lads too."

Following the clash with Iran on Monday, England boss Gareth Southgate said that Kane's substitution in the World Cup opener was a precaution.

"I think Harry's fine. It looked like a bad tackle but he carried on in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that," he told reporters.

Kane has been in strong scoring form for Spurs during the 2022-23 campaign, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions in 21 matches in the Premier League and Champions League.

The 29-year-old has 51 goals in 76 appearances for England, meanwhile, which has left him just two behind Wayne Rooney in the all-time scoring list for the Three Lions.

Kyle Walker also trained with England on Wednesday, with the Manchester City defender emerging as an option for the game with the USA, having recovered from groin surgery.

Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish were all on the scoresheet against Iran last time out, while Bukayo Saka netted twice in the tournament opener.

England will follow their second game against the USA with a clash against Wales on Tuesday night.
