Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte confirms that Harry Kane is fit to face Norwich City on Sunday after an illness scare.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Harry Kane will be fit for Sunday's Premier League showdown with Norwich City at Carrow Road.

On Friday afternoon, former Spurs striker Gary Lineker claimed to have been made aware of a food poisoning outbreak at the club - 16 years on from the infamous 'lasagne-gate' incident.

Before the final day of the 2005-06 season, several Tottenham players were struck down with norovirus, as a depleted squad lost to West Ham United and missed out on fourth place to Arsenal as a result.

In coincidentally similar fashion, Conte's Tottenham have been dealing with illness in the past couple of weeks, although reports quickly emerged denying any wider outbreak at the club after Lineker's tweet.

However, Kane - who trained as normal on Thursday - was due to attend a media event on Friday evening but is not feeling well, so he withdrew from the commitments as a precaution.

Fears were immediately raised over Kane missing out against Norwich, where Spurs need to win to guarantee a spot in the top four and pip Arsenal to Champions League qualification.

Conte eased those concerns in his pre-match press conference, though, saying: "Yes for sure [Kane will play]. In the last game we had Kulusevski and he didn't train on Saturday but was good to play. Harry doesn't want to miss this type of game.

"If you remember the last game, we had three or four cases of stomach problems. In this week I have to be honest we had a couple of cases but we overcame the situation.

"Also members of the staff, one day they were not feeling so good. I don't know why, the last week but also this week we faced this situation. In this moment though this virus is the last of our problem. We are close to a big achievement and we are totally focused. The situation of the players is the same as the last game."

Dejan Kulusevski was one of four players to have caught the bug before the 1-0 win over Burnley, but the Swede was fit enough to come off the bench for the final 10 minutes.

Conte was also in no mood to discuss the food poisoning saga of 2006, adding: "I don't want to know this story. I'm not interested to go deeper into this story.

"There is the whole season behind this game and we can reach something amazing for us because I think no one can imagine top four this season. We have worked hard and now everything is in our hands."

While Kane will be fit to play at Carrow Road, Tottenham will have no fewer than five players unavailable for the final day of the season.

Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon and Matt Doherty are continuing their recoveries, while Cristian Romero is still dealing with a hip problem sustained in the draw with Liverpool.

Conte had previously claimed that Romero was in with a small chance of making the squad on Sunday, but the Argentine defender will not be risked.

"Romero had a traumatic injury. He is not available. We have the same players as the last game against Burnley. Not less, not more," Conte responded when asked about Romero's fitness.

Even if Tottenham can only hold on for a point against Norwich, Arsenal would then need to beat Everton by a 16-goal margin to break back into the top four of the table.
