Burnley manager Sean Dyche talks up his side's recent form and insists that he has always believed in their ability following their 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has insisted that he has "always believed" in his side's ability following their "powerful" win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

Ben Mee scored the only goal of the game as the Clarets ran out 1-0 winners at Turf Moor, beating a Spurs side that just four days earlier had toppled champions and league leaders Manchester City.

The win was Burnley's second in a row and just third of the entire league season, and Dyche talked up the recent form of his players.

"Obviously back-to-back wins feels good and both were well-earned for different reasons. We've played very well in the last six games and I've been really pleased with that side of things," he told reporters ahead of Saturday's match against Crystal Palace.

"I've never been not sure, I've always believed in what we're doing and the power of a group of people whose noses are pointing in the right direction. The belief is always there in what we do.

"We all felt as a collective we stepped away from it at Leeds and that was a low point. We spoke with the players about it and the strength of the group is when they take ownership of that and they certainly have done.

"Everyone loves the one where you win 3-0 but the 1-0's are important as a manager so we take as much value in a 1-0 over Tottenham as we do a 3-0 win over Brighton and that's a powerful one last night against a good Tottenham side."

Dyche also reserved special praise for winger Dwight McNeil's recent displays.

"We want players like Dwight to play well and I love it when he plays with a smile on his face," he added.

"The quality of his crossing is superb. We had a chat, I left him out but he's gone back in and he's put in some very, very good performances."

Burnley's improvement has seen them climb up to 18th in the Premier League table, only two points adrift of safety.
