Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.

The Portuguese boss has made a perfect start to life in the Spurs dugout, claiming maximum points from his first three league matches.

Nuno became just the second Tottenham manager in the club's history to win each of his first three league games in charge, after Arthur Rowe did so back in August 1949.

Spurs secured three successive 1-0 victories in August, beating Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day, before winning away at Nuno's former club Wolverhampton Wanderers and at home against Watford.

Speaking to the Premier League, Nuno said: "It's a privilege, I'm very thankful. Behind the scenes, with all the work that everybody in the club does, helping the coaching staff and trying to provide the right environment for the players to compete, because this is how we want to work together, push each other, help each other, so it's a privilege to be here.

"I always say that it's down to the hard work of the players. The players have worked really hard in pre-season and that gave us the ability to compete well in the beginning of the season.

"In the league they're tough matches and always very competitive, but the credit is for the players because they are the ones who delivered the results and the performances."

Nuno will now look to maintain Tottenham's 100% start to the season when they travel to face Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime.
