Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that he is optimistic over the injury sustained by Kieran Trippier during this afternoon's pre-season friendly with Juventus.
Trippier was due to start the new campaign as Tottenham's first-choice right-back following Kyle Walker's exit last month, but he was forced off after just 41 minutes of today's match at Wembley following a couple of heavy challenges from Alex Sandro.
The 26-year-old was later seen on crutches, but Pochettino played down concerns over the injury and insisted that it would not have an impact on the club's transfer plans.
"We need to assess him on Monday and then we will see. Now the feeling is good. It's true that he has crutches, but it's good. We hope that it is not a big issue," he told reporters.
"We are working, trying to add some players to the squad. But that does not change our idea. Our idea was, the same as before, to try to provide the team with more strength and try to sign a few players before the end of the transfer window."
Spurs begin the new season away to Newcastle United next Sunday.
