A report claims that Scottish Premiership side Rangers want to sign Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley on a free transfer this summer.

Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

The 22-year-old, who has been at Southend since 2008, is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Football League.

Hull City are believed to have had a January bid in the region of £1m turned down for the former Arsenal youngster, but Southend have thus far been unable to tie the stopper to a new contract.

According to The Sun, Rangers want to take Bentley, who lost his place in the Southend team towards the end of the 2015-16 season due to the contract saga, on a free transfer next month.

In April, Shrimpers boss Phil Brown said that he still 'had hopes' of keeping Bentley at Roots Hall.
