Southampton are reportedly in talks with a Chinese company regarding a potential £200m takeover.

Southampton are reportedly in talks with a Chinese company regarding a possible takeover of the Premier League club.

According to Bloomberg, the Saints' current owner Katharina Liebherr has been discussing a potential deal with Lander Sports Development Co for several weeks.

The news agency reports that people close to the situation believe that the south-coast club could be sold for close to £200m, but an agreement is yet to be reached.

A spokesman for Southampton told Bloomberg that he was unaware of the discussions.

There has been an influx of Chinese ownership in English football, with West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa all recently completing takeovers.

Two-time Premier League champions Manchester City received investment from Chinese consortium CMC last year.
