Johan Djourou will reportedly no longer be joining Sheffield Wednesday in this summer's transfer window despite passing a medical with the Championship outfit at the end of last week.

The former Arsenal defender is available on a free this summer after leaving Hamburger SV following the expiration of his contract.

According to The Star, Djourou underwent a medical with Wednesday on Friday, but the move collapsed over the weekend after talks between the two parties broke down.

The 30-year-old, who is a 67-time Switzerland international, made 140 appearances for Arsenal between 2004 and 2014 before leaving to join German side Hamburg.

Wednesday opened their new Championship season with a 1-0 defeat at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
