Result: Adam Ljajic secures dramatic draw for Roma against Sassuolo

Adam Ljajic fires home an injury-time equaliser to hand Roma a 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo in Serie A.

Adam Ljajic fired home a 93rd-minute leveller to snatch Roma a 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo in a fiery encounter which saw both teams reduced to 10 men.

The home side fell two goals behind in the opening 20 minutes as Simone Zaza put in-form Serie A side Sassuolo ahead with a calm finish inside the area.

Two minutes later, the Italy international made it 2-0 with a thumping strike into the roof of the net from close range as Roma were stunned by Sassuolo's quick start.

Ljajic then had two chances to half the deficit, but the winger headed wide before his second effort was saved by Andrea Consigli after a mazy run.

Sassuolo began to drop further and further into their own half and Jose Holebas was denied by another fine Consigli save, while Mattia Destro fired a header wide of the target from a promising position as Roma increased the pressure.

They began the second half strongly, but their gameplan was undone as Daniele De Rossi was shown a second yellow card in the 50th minute.

His dismissal stretched the game even further, and only a fine save from Morgan de Sanctis prevented Domenico Berardi from putting the game beyond the reach of the home side.

Sime Vrsaljko's handball gifted Roma a chance to reduce the deficit, and Ljajic sent Consigli the wrong way from the spot to give the home side a burst of confidence.

In the third minute of injury time, Ljajic latched onto Alessandro Florenzi's through ball and swept the ball home to send rescue Stadio Olimpico fans a home point.

There was still time for Vrsaljko to pick up his second yellow card of the afternoon as both sides ended with 10 men.
