Jose Mourinho accuses Roma player of betraying his team

Roma manager Jose Mourinho has accused an unnamed player of betraying his teammates.

Mourinho was commenting after Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Sassuolo where Tammy Abraham saw his 80th-minute strike cancelled out five minutes later by Andrea Pinamonti.

Speaking to DAZN, the Roma boss said: "It was a team that wanted to win against a tough opponent, I am sorry that the efforts of the team were betrayed by the attitude of one unprofessional player.

"An unprofessional attitude that is not fair to his teammates, that is what disappoints me. A point away from home is still not a negative result and I am happy with the general attitude of my squad."

When questioned about the identify of the individual, Mourinho replied: "I won't tell you. I had 16 players on the field tonight and I liked the attitude of 15 of them. In January, he needs to find himself another club."

According to the Daily Mail, there is a belief among the Italian press that Mourinho's comments were focused on Rick Karsdorp who appeared as a second-half substitute.

The report suggests that there was deemed to be a lack of effort from the right-back in the build-up to Pinamonti's equaliser.

Ahead of Sunday's home meeting with Torino, Mourinho's side are currently sat in sixth place with two points separating them from the top four.
