A hip injury rules Real Madrid and Spain defender Dani Carvajal out of this summer's European Championships in France.

Dani Carvajal has admitted defeat in his bid to represent Spain at Euro 2016.

The Real Madrid right-back picked up a hip injury during Saturday evening's Champions League final, which saw him leave the pitch in tears.

A subsequent scan has revealed a muscle problem, ruling Carvajal out of the tournament in France.

"I feel a lot of contained rage. I fought for two years to try to make the group and I am disappointed with myself for the bad luck I've had," the 24-year-old told Cadena Cope.

Carvajal made his international debut in 2014 and has gone on to earn five caps.
