Joey Barton and Rangers reportedly agree to terminate the midfielder's contract, just six months after joining the club on a two-year deal.

Joey Barton has reportedly come to an agreement with Rangers to terminate his contract at Ibrox.

The midfielder joined the Scottish Premiership outfit on a two-year deal just six months ago, but a disciplinary breach appears to have cut short his stay in Glasgow.

In the fallout of the Gers' 5-1 defeat to Celtic on September 10, Barton got involved in a training-ground bust-up with teammate Andy Halliday, which resulted in a week-long suspension.

The ban was extended after Barton refused to apologise, but on November 2 he was welcomed back to the club on the condition that he trained with the academy players.

Just 24 hours after returning to Rangers' training base, Barton was reportedly signed off with stress and now according to Sky Sports News, a deal has been reached between both parties to terminate the contract.

The former Newcastle United player, who left Burnley at the end of the season, was thought to be earning £20,000 a week at Rangers.
