QPR forward Jamie Mackie will be out for at least three months after suffering ankle ligament damage in training while coming back from surgery on an injured hamstring.

Queens Park Rangers forward Jamie Mackie has been ruled out for at least three months after suffering ankle ligament damage.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury in training while coming back from surgery on a long-standing hamstring problem.

"It is hugely disappointing news for Jamie and for us," QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told the club website.

"He has worked incredibly hard over the summer to give himself the best chance of being fit as soon as possible, so I really feel for him."

Mackie rejoined the R's from Nottingham Forest last summer but only made 16 appearances last season, missing more than three months through injury.
