Today's key events
Barcelona 'put together midfield shortlist for January window'
Barcelona are reportedly planning to move for a new central midfielder in January, with head coach Xavi determined to bring in a player capable of operating as the pivot.
The Catalan side lost the inspirational Sergio Busquets on a free transfer over the summer, but two midfielders arrived in the shape of Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu.
Gundogan and Romeu have been regulars early in the season, with Barcelona making a solid start to their La Liga title defence, picking up 10 points from their opening four matches.
However, Xavi still allegedly believes that his team are missing a pivot midfielder, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the club have identified four possible signings at the start of 2024.
Kepa Arrizabalaga suggests he does not want Chelsea return
Kepa Arrizabalaga has called Chelsea 'not the right project for him', with the Spain international seemingly suggesting that he is unlikely to play for the Blues again.
The 28-year-old was expected to start the 2023-24 campaign as Chelsea's number one, but he eventually made the move to Real Madrid on loan.
Bayern Munich had been in advanced talks over a deal for the stopper, but Real Madrid entered the goalkeeping market when Thibaut Courtois picked up a serious knee injury.
Kepa has claimed that he was "close" to making the move to Munich before Carlo Ancelotti's entered the race.
Antoine Griezmann reveals transfer interest during summer market
Antoine Griezmann has revealed that there were "calls and contacts" to discuss his position at Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.
The 32-year-old is currently in his third spell at Atletico, the first of which came between 2014 and 2019, before he returned to the Red and Whites on loan from Barcelona in 2021.
Griezmann then secured a permanent return to the capital giants towards the end of last year, and he was in strong form for the club last term, scoring 16 goals and registering 19 assists in 48 appearances.
The France international is also off the mark in terms of goals for this season, registering in Atletico's standout 7-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the end of August.
Ilkay Gundogan: 'Manchester City left contract talks too late'

Ilkay Gundogan has suggested that he would have stayed with Manchester City this summer if the club had started contract talks sooner.
The Germany international rejected the chance to sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium in order to make the move to Barcelona on a free transfer.
Gundogan was a vital player for Pep Guardiola's side during the 2022-23 campaign, making 51 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in the process.
In total, the 32-year-old represented the Citizens on 304 occasions, scoring 60 goals and registering 40 assists, before seeking pastures new in the shape of Barcelona.
Fenerbahce 'emerge as contenders for Donny van de Beek'
Donny van de Beek is reportedly the subject of interest from Fenerbahce, with the Manchester United midfielder widely expected to leave Old Trafford in the near future.
The Netherlands international did not depart Erik ten Hag's side before Friday evening's deadline, but the speculation surrounding his future is ongoing.
Clubs in Turkey are still able to bring in new players, with their transfer window not closing until September 15, and Galatasaray were believed to lead the interest in Van de Beek.
However, according to A Spor, Fenerbahce are now firmly in the picture, with the Super Lig outfit currently exploring how much it would cost to sign him.
Maksim Paskotsi leaves Tottenham for Grasshoppers on permanent deal
Estonian defender Maksim Paskotsi has left Tottenham Hotspur to join Swiss side Grasshopper Zurich in a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old rose through the youth ranks with hometown club FC Flora before joining the Spurs academy in 2020, and he quickly established a reputation as a goalscoring defender.
Paskotsi found the back of the net five times in 19 league appearances for Spurs' Under-18s in the 2020-21 season, captaining the side on two occasions and impressing Nuno Espirito Santo.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss handed Paskotsi his first-team debut in their Europa Conference League qualifying first-leg loss to Pacos de Ferreira in August 2021, while he also made the bench in the FA Cup and EFL Cup under Antonio Conte.
Felix 'rejected Man United, Liverpool in favour of Barcelona'

Joao Felix reportedly turned down offers from Manchester United and Liverpool to join Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid in the final stages of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old completed a loan switch to Camp Nou on transfer deadline day, and he made his debut for the Catalan giants as a substitute against Osasuna in La Liga on Sunday.
There is no obligation to buy the Portugal international, and he extended his contract at Wanda Metropolitano until June 2029 before his loan switch, so he will be returning to Atletico next summer.
Felix's future was the subject of much speculation over the summer, with a number of clubs linked with his services, including teams from the Saudi Pro League.
Sergio Ramos 'rejected Manchester United to return to Sevilla'

Sergio Ramos reportedly turned down the chance to make the move to Manchester United this summer in order to return to boyhood club Sevilla on a free transfer.
The 37-year-old departed Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expired at the end of June, and he was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.
There is also believed to have been interest from the MLS, but Ramos has completed a return to Sevilla, 18 years after leaving Estadio Ramon for Real Madrid.
According to The Sun, after Raphael Varane's injury, Man United approached the experienced centre-back, offering him a one-year contract worth £73,000 a week.
Federico Valverde 'regrets rejecting Premier League to stay at Real Madrid'

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde allegedly regrets snubbing a potential move to the Premier League in order to stay at the Bernabeu this summer.
Having established a reputation as one of the world's leading lynchpins, a move to a top-flight English club was unsurprisingly mooted for Valverde over the summer.
Chelsea and Liverpool were believed to have shown a particular interest in signing the Uruguay international, while Manchester United were also said to be monitoring developments.
With Valverde under contract in the Spanish capital until 2027, though, all three clubs faced being priced out of a move for the 25-year-old, who subsequently stayed put at the Bernabeu.
Man United 'open contract talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka'

Manchester United have opened talks over a new contract for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report.
For the past two years, the former Crystal Palace man has engaged in a fierce battle with Diogo Dalot for the right-back spot - a contest which the Portuguese often won in 2022 under Ralf Rangnick.
A back injury also prevented Wan-Bissaka from making an early impression under Erik ten Hag, and there was even talk of a move away from Old Trafford last year, but he has since played his way into the manager's good books.
While not renowned for his attacking qualities - he failed to score or assist once in the 2022-23 Premier League season - Wan-Bissaka's defensive game continues to earn plaudits, and he has cemented his place as Ten Hag's first-choice right-back.
