Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly threatened to go on strike at Sporting Lisbon in a bid to force a move away from the Portuguese giants during this summer's transfer window.
The Sweden international had an incredible 2024-25 campaign at Sporting, scoring 54 goals and registering 13 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions.
Gyokeres's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Manchester United and Arsenal said to be among the clubs keen to sign him during the summer market.
The striker has an £85m release clause in his contract, but there have previously been claims that he could be allowed to leave the Lisbon giants for a fee in the region of £55m during the summer window.
Recent reports have now claimed that Sporting want as much as £70m, and according to Record, Gyokeres feels let down by his club and made his stance on the matter clear.
Gyokeres 'tells Sporting he will not play for them again'
The report claims that the striker is prepared to go on strike at Sporting in a bid to force a transfer despite the fact that he has another three years left to run on his contract.
Man United are currently viewed as the favourites for the 27-year-old, who has a close relationship with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim following their time together at Sporting.
Gyokeres managed 39 goals and eight assists in Portugal's top flight last season to help the Lisbon giants secure the title, while he netted six times in eight appearances in the Champions League.
Man United are desperate to sign a new centre-forward this summer due to Rasmus Hojlund's struggles, but the Denmark international, as it stands, is expected to remain at Old Trafford.
Respected journalist questions Man United's Gyokeres interest
Respected journalist Andy Mitten has recently questioned Man United's supposed Gyokeres interest, claiming that he has not been made aware that the Red Devils are pushing to sign the Portuguese.
“I was at the club last week, spoke to senior people there and he [Gyokeres] wasn’t a name that I heard. That doesn’t mean it’s not gonna happen but I was told they are looking more at No. 10s than No. 9s," Mitten told talkSPORT.
“Fans want a No. 9 but I can only go off the evidence that I’ve got. The transfer market changes and if United were to get rid of eight players tomorrow, it would be completely different. The manager likes him and worked with him at Sporting but I’ve got no evidence that Man Utd are actively trying to sign him.”
Gyokeres has scored 97 goals and registered 28 assists in 102 appearances for Sporting, including a staggering record of 68 goals in 66 league outings.
