Alexis Sanchez's record vs. Manchester City

Ahead of his first taste of the Manchester derby this weekend, Sports Mole looks at Alexis Sanchez's past record in meetings with Manchester City.

Manchester United are expected to have Alexis Sanchez in their ranks for this weekend's high-profile showdown with rivals Manchester City.

The Chile international could well have been playing for the opposition in Saturday evening's fixture, having reportedly seen a move to the Etihad Stadium collapse earlier this season.

Sanchez has failed to truly justify his rumoured £500,000-a-week wages since arriving at United from Arsenal in January, but he did bag a goal and assist against Swansea City last time out.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the forward has performed specifically against Man City in previous meetings.

Sanchez vs. Man City

Sanchez first faced off against the Citizens in the 2013-14 campaign while at Barcelona, failing to score in both Champions League last-16 ties.

The 29-year-old was given a combined 83 minutes across those two games, which Barca won 4-1 on aggregate, and he was also unable to find a way through in a 45-minute appearance on his Arsenal debut in the 2014-15 Community Shield.

Whether on the left, right or through the middle, in fact, Sanchez's record against City is not that great. In six league matches during his time at Arsenal, the Chilean found the net just twice, most recently in the 2015-16 campaign - a 2-2 draw in Manchester.

Sanchez's best moment against City arguably came less than a year ago, however, as he scrambled the ball over the line in extra time to send Arsenal through to the FA Cup final.
