Aussie boxer wins medal without fighting
Australian boxer Taylah Robertson wins the first medal of the Commonwealth Games without having thrown a punch.

Australian boxer Taylah Robertson has been assured of at least a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games without having thrown a punch.

The Games officially launch in the Gold Coast today, with the first competitions taking place tomorrow, but Robertson has claimed the first medal nine days before she is due to fight.

Only seven fighters have entered into the women's 51kg division, meaning that three bouts will be played as quarter-finals, and Robertson received a bye to the semi-finals following a lucky draw.

Under the rules of competition both losing semi-finalists are awarded bronze medals, ensuring her at least third place on the podium.

Robertson's semi-final has been set for April 13.
