Manchester City are reportedly preparing for Ederson's departure to Galatasaray and have identified a potential replacement.

Manchester City are reportedly preparing for the departure of Ederson and have identified Diogo Costa as a potential replacement.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has reached a personal agreement with Galatasaray on a contract worth around £5.1m per year, but the Turkish side still need to strike a deal with City. According to Transfermarkt, the 31-year-old is currently valued at €20m (£17m).

While James Trafford has been mentioned as a possible successor, Portuguese outlet Maisfutebol claim that Diogo Costa is now firmly on the radar of the Premier League champions.

The same source suggests that City are readying a bid worth €60m (around £51m), including bonuses, for the Porto shot-stopper. The deal is reportedly being driven by sporting director Hugo Viana, formerly of Sporting Lisbon, who is said to be a strong admirer of Costa.

The 25-year-old remains under contract at Porto until June 2027 and has a release clause set at €75m (£63.8m). It remains to be seen whether the Portuguese giants will be willing to accept an offer below that figure, or insist on the full amount being met.

Costa has established himself as Portugal’s first-choice goalkeeper and is widely regarded as one of the most promising in Europe in his position.
