A player who never truly fulfilled his potential, Micah Richards was nonetheless an important part of the Man City squad for the best part of a decade as they went from relegation battlers to title contenders.

Having made his debut at the age of just 17, Richards's physical attributes quickly marked him out as one to watch and just a year later he became the youngest defender to ever be called up to the England squad.

The versatile centre-back went on to become the club's youngest ever captain and helped them to their first major trophy for 35 years in the 2011 FA Cup final victory over Stoke City.

Richards's best season came in 2011-12, though, when his performances in City's memorable title-winning campaign saw him nominated for the club's Player of the Year award, ending the campaign with five assists - more than any other defender in the division.

Richards had lost his place in the side by the time City won their second league title, though, and after a loan spell at Fiorentina he was released in 2015 having scored nine goals in 245 appearances.
