Burnley midfielder Jack Cork says that his team are delighted to have opened their new Premier League season with a 3-2 win at Chelsea.

Burnley midfielder Jack Cork has revealed his delight after the Clarets opened their 2017-18 Premier League campaign with a 3-2 victory at champions Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

Burnley led 3-0 at the break, with a brace from Sam Vokes and a Stephen Ward effort shocking Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The home side, who had Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas sent off, registered in the second period through Alvaro Morata and David Luiz, but Burnley held on to start their campaign with all three points.

"They made it hard for us in the second half but a win's a win and we've got three points on the board. Stephen Ward has a wand of a left foot - it was a great strike, a great goal!" Cork told BBC Sport.

"At 3-0 up we should have made it safer, but we got there in the end. It's always good to have a good start in the Premier League - it means a lot to us and to all the fans that came here and those at home."

Cork, who started his professional career at Chelsea, joined Burnley on a permanent deal from Swansea City earlier this summer.
