Manchester City have the best record of any English club after their first 100 games in the Champions League, a feat which can only be bettered by Real Madrid.

Manchester City will take to the pitch for the 100th time in the Champions League when they walk out at the Wanda Metropolitano for the second leg of their quarter-final tie with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side take a slender 1-0 advantage to the Spanish capital, after Kevin De Bruyne scored the only goal in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium last week.

The Citizens will be looking to reach the semi-finals for the second successive season, but before they even kick a ball against Atletico, they are boasting an impressive record that no other English side can match.

Man City have won 55 of their first 99 fixtures (excluding qualifiers) in Europe's elite club competition, which is already the most by an English club through a century of games.

Only 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid (57) have won more of their first 100 matches in the competition.

City's hopes of winning their 56th Champions League game on Wednesday are not guaranteed, however, as they have had mixed fortunes playing away from home in this year's competition, winning and losing two games each including group-stage defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
