Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that it "would have been a joke" if his side failed to beat West Bromwich Albion at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that it would have been a "joke" if his side failed to beat West Bromwich Albion this evening.

The Reds controlled the vast majority of the contest at Anfield, but were forced to hang on in the closing stages after Gareth McAuley pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Ultimately Liverpool held out for a 2-1 victory, though, and Klopp was happy with his side's performance.

"I am happy with the performance of my team. It is difficult against West Brom, so many balls in the air, they are so dangerous from set pieces," he told BT Sport.

"It would have been a joke if we drew today, unbelievable how we played. It was a good performance against a team like this, they were here to get something, we never let them back into the game.

"Their corners kicks are so good, I had feeling 15 players in white kit were in the box. It was a big, big challenge to stay cool, stay concentrated. It is a really nice team I am really happy to have these boys around."

The result saw Liverpool move level on points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, although they would have leapfrogged the Gunners with a two-goal win.
