Jamaica eager to snatch Raheem Sterling from England

Jamiaca boss Theodore Whitmore is hopeful that Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling will switch his international allegiance from England to Jamaica.

Jamaica manager Theodore Whitmore has revealed that he is hopeful of securing the international commitment of Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling.

The 17-year-old, who has been handed a more prominent first-team role at Anfield under boss Brendan Rodgers, has already represented the Three Lions at Under 17 and Under 19 level.

"We definitely showed an interest in Sterling before and we are just waiting on him now for the go-ahead," Whitmore told STAR Sports.

"We have seen him a number of times, he is a quality player with a lot to offer this programme, but it's up to him and the door is open.

"I don't want to go into any further details but, as I said, he is definitely someone we have our eyes on and it's all up to him now."

Sterling was born in Kingston and moved to England at a young age.
