Leicester City will be hoping to avoid setting a new club record in the Premier League when they play host to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Leicester City will be hoping to avoid setting a new club record in the Premier League when they face Crystal Palace this weekend.

After what Brendan Rodgers has previously described as a 'disastrous summer' in the transfer market, his side have not fared any better on the pitch.

Heading into matchday 10, the Foxes occupy bottom spot in the standings after collecting just four points from their nine matches.

Since an opening-weekend draw with Brentford at the King Power Stadium, Leicester have lost seven of their following eight fixtures.

Their most recent setback against Bournemouth last weekend came after they had initially taken the lead through Patson Daka and held the advantage until the final quarter of the game.

Over half of Leicester's defeats this season have now come after opening the scoring, a statistic which has led to further question marks over Rodgers and his squad.

With regards to that statistic, Leicester have already equalled the record amount of times (four) that they have lost games from winning positions in a single Premier League season.

That is despite playing less than a quarter of their top-flight fixtures for 2022-23, already putting one of their previous unwanted records at risk.

On the first occasion in 1994-95, Leicester were eventually relegated to the First Division, while finishing positions of 14th and fifth were recorded in 2014-15 and 2019-20 respectively.

Leicester first lost from a losing position this campaign when they let slip a lead, established in the 54th minute, against Southampton to succumb to a 2-1 defeat.

The other two occasions occurred after taking first-minute and sixth-minute advantages at Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, going on to lose by 5-2 and 6-2 scorelines.

Coincidentally, Palace's two victories this season have been recorded after they had previously conceded the opening goal in a match.
