Noel Whelan believes Leeds United can save millions in the transfer market and do not need to sign a new right-back, following the emergence of Cody Drameh.

Former Leeds United forward and club ambassador Noel Whelan believes the Lilywhites can save millions in the transfer market and do not need to sign a new right-back, following the emergence of Cody Drameh.

The 19-year-old made his senior debut against Arsenal in the EFL Cup last week and has also been a part of five matchday squads in the Premier League so far this season.

Whelan was impressed with Drameh's performance against the Gunners and now believes that Leeds do not need to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

"A really, really solid performance from the young man (against Arsenal). Another one that's highly rated at the football club. You can see he's got a natural ability in that right full-back position," Whelan told Football Insider.

"Very good on the ball, he got better and better and more involved in the game the longer it went on. Another young player that is putting up stiff competition for the more senior players.

"Drameh is somebody that you look at and you can rely on. He's going to pose some questions to the manager when it comes to that right-back position. Another one for the future where it's probably another base covered that we don't need to look to buy."

Drameh, who joined Leeds from Fulham in August 2020, is expected to receive more minutes in the first-team while Luke Ayling continues to recover from a knee injury.
