Aston Villa are allegedly prepared to spend as much as £60m on Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips during the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa have reportedly identified Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips as a potential summer transfer target.

On the back of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Steven Gerrard suggested that he was prepared to make wholesale changes to his squad after losing 10 of his first 20 matches in charge.

The England legend is expected to be provided with significant funds to improve his squad, Villa already considering whether to take up their option on Barcelona midfielder Phillipe Coutinho.

However, according to The Telegraph, Villa hold a strong interest in Phillips, who is yet to commit his long-term future to boyhood club Leeds.

If reports are to believed, the England international is ready to pen fresh terms once Leeds have retained their Premier League status, something which appears more likely after the weekend's results.

Nevertheless, it is claimed that Villa are prepared to spend as much as £60m to sign Phillips, a figure that Leeds may have to consider if the 26-year-old bides his time before making a decision over his future.
