Gillingham sack manager Neil Harris after a run of three games without a win in League Two.

Gillingham have sacked manager Neil Harris following a three-game winless run in League Two.

The Gills have taken one point from the last nine on offer in the English fourth tier, a run which has seen them drop down the table and out of the playoff positions.

Harris's side won their opening five games of the league season, all by a 1-0 scoreline, but have since won just two of their last seven, losing four of those including a 2-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday which proved to be Harris's final game in charge.

"Gillingham Football Club has today decided to part company with manager Neil Harris, who has been in charge at Priestfield for just over 20 months," read a statement on the Gillingham website.

"Having joined the club in February of 2022, Neil nearly kept the team in League One, getting relegated on the last day of the season on goal difference, making up a 10-point deficit in the process.

"The club has decided it now wishes to go in a different direction and will begin the process of identifying a head coach to take the team forward. David Livermore will also be leaving the club.

"The club wishes Neil and David best wishes in the future and we thank them for their hard work over the past two seasons."

Keith Millen will take charge of the team on an interim basis during their search for a new manager, and is likely to be in the dugout for Saturday's home game against MK Dons.

Harris won 31 and lost 34 of his 90 games as Gillingham manager, recording the lowest win percentage of his managerial career at Priestfield.
