Alvaro Vazquez sends Getafe through against Almeria

Alvaro Vazquez comes off the bench to give Getafe a 1-0 win in the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie against Almeria to seal a 2-1 aggregate win.

Getafe have beaten Almeria 1-0 to record a 2-1 aggregate victory in their Copa del Rey last-16 tie this evening.

Teerasil Dangda and Ximo Navarro both put efforts wide for Almeria in a first half that was lacking any clear-cut goalscoring chances.

In the 76th minute Getafe finally made the breakthrough as substitute Alvaro Vazquez rounded the keeper and calmly slotted the ball home.

Almeria pushed for a goal late on, but they were unable to breach the Getafe backline as the hosts held on to book a quarter-final tie against Villarreal.
