Julian Draxler claims that Germany's triumph in the Confederations Cup has a particularly special feel as they were playing with a mixture of experience and youth.

Germany captain Julian Draxler has insisted that his side were deserving of their victory over Chile in the final of the Confederations Cup.

Die Mannschaft added another honour to their cabinet by winning the competition for the first time, overcoming their South American opponents 1-0 in Sunday's clash in St Petersburg.

Lars Stindl struck the winner a quarter of the way through at the Zenit Arena following a Marcelo Diaz error, with Arturo Vidal and Angelo Sagal blazing over late on.

Germany have now won the World Cup, Under-21s Euros and Confederations Cup in the space of three years - the latter two in the past 48 hours - but Draxler believes that this latest success has a particularly special feel to it.

"We fought well and deserved this win," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "We hadn't played together before the tournament, which makes it even more valuable.

"Every title is special, but with this young team, it's even more so. Now we can all go on holiday - and even take the trophy with us."

Portugal had earlier finished third in the competition following a 2-1 win over Mexico after extra time.
