Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how England could line up for Tuesday's World Cup 2022 Group B clash with Wales.

England manager Gareth Southgate could be working with a near fully-fit squad for Tuesday's World Cup 2022 Group B clash with Wales at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.

James Maddison has missed the Three Lions' opening fixtures with the USA and Iran due to a knee problem, but the Leicester City man has returned to training ahead of this match, while Ben White is a doubt due to illness.

England need only draw to confirm a place in the last 16, although a win would see them progress as group winners, and the defence will be marshalled by Jordan Pickford as ever.

Harry Maguire - arguably England's player of the tournament so far - will partner up with John Stones, but there may be a change in the wide areas, where Luke Shaw will line up unchallenged.

Kyle Walker has now returned to fitness following groin surgery and could come in for Kieran Trippier at right-back, where Trent Alexander-Arnold is another option.

Jordan Henderson is reportedly poised to take the place of Jude Bellingham alongside Declan Rice, while Maddison is unlikely to put any pressure on Mason Mount in the number 10 role.

Neither Bukayo Saka nor Raheem Sterling covered themselves in glory against the USA, where Phil Foden was left on the bench due to Southgate's reluctance to play him centrally.

However, the Manchester City starlet should certainly be considered for a place out wide here, with Saka seemingly more likely to get the chop than Sterling, while Harry Kane goes in search of his first non-penalty goal for England in 2022.

England possible starting lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Henderson; Sterling, Mount, Foden; Kane
