The Candystripes have won the League of Ireland Premier Division on two previous occasions, last lifting the trophy in 1997, while they were fourth last term, so it has been a successful season to date.
Tiernan Lynch's side will enter this match off the back of a 5-1 success over Treaty United in the FAI Cup, but they were beaten 2-0 by Sligo Rovers in their last league match on July 12.
The defeat to Sligo was their first in the League of Ireland Premier Division since the end of May, and they will be determined to bounce back in what is a top-three battle.

Liam Boyce has been in excellent form for Derry this season, scoring 11 times in all competitions, and the 34-year-old will again feature in the final third of the field on Friday night.
Michael Duffy has also been a standout performer, netting eight times in all competitions, and he will also start.
Derry will be without the services of two first-team players on Friday, though, as Ben Doherty and Cameron Dummigan are unavailable for selection due to injury problems.
As for Bohemians, Alex Lacey is out through injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape.
James Clarke has five goals and three assists in all competitions this season, and he will be in the starting XI once again.
Douglas James-Taylor has scored once in his first two appearances for the club following a move from Walsall, and the 23-year-old will again feature in the final third of the field.
