Chelsea reportedly make a decision over the future of Enzo Maresca ahead of their closing three matches of the season.

Chelsea have reportedly already made a decision over whether Enzo Maresca is assured of remaining in charge next season.

The head coach is currently closing in on the end of his first campaign at Stamford Bridge having moved from Leicester City last summer.

In 54 matches, the Italian has delivered 32 victories, while also keeping the Blues in contention for Champions League qualification through their position in the Premier League table and guiding the club to the Conference League final.

However, there remains frustration among the fanbase with Maresca's style of football, as well as the fact that 13 defeats have also been posted this term.

Furthermore, a report earlier this week claimed that one of Serie A's biggest clubs were prepared to pounce should Chelsea part ways with the 45-year-old.

What decision have Chelsea made on Maresca?

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea's hierarchy have no intention of sacking Maresca, regardless of how the end of the season pans out.

Chelsea can secure a place in the Champions League with victories over Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, while they have an opportunity to lift a European crown in the Conference League showpiece with Real Betis.

Even if the West Londoners fail to achieve either target, the club's board would not act by relieving Maresca of his duties.

The report adds that the plan is to provide Maresca with two full seasons in charge before making any further decisions over whether he is the best fit for the job.

Nevertheless, it is allegedly acknowledged that the season would be deemed a disappointment if Chelsea do not finish in the top five of the Premier League table or lift continental silverware.

The only decision that can be made?

Although Chelsea's supporters have been left frustrated with some of the football produced by Maresca's side, it was unlikely to have any bearing on the key decision-makers.

Maresca holds a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a 12-month extension, and another change in approach would suggest that club officials were admitting to another mistake.

Furthermore, Maresca also has a young squad at his disposal and the hope is that the experience of this campaign will benefit them in 2025-26.

Signings have already been made with the future in mind with Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian among those expected to feature in the senior ranks next season.
