Result: Jeff Louis hands Caen dramatic triumph

Jeff Louis scores in stoppage time to give Caen a 2-1 victory over winless Montpellier.

Jeff Louis scored a stoppage-time winner to hand Caen a 2-1 victory over the winless Montpellier.

Both sides appeared eager to get on the front foot in a frantic opening spell, and Montpellier missed a great chance to break the deadlock when Joris Marveaux's header was pushed away by Remy Vercoutre.

Despite seeing the visitors dominate possession, Caen grew in confidence going forward and they took the lead when Ronny Rodelin collected Herve Bazile's through ball before finishing calmly.

A defensive reshuffle forced Jordan Adeoti to return to the Caen back four, and it was his mistake which gifted Montpellier the opportunity to get back on level terms after he brought down Bryan Dabo in the box.

Jonas Martin took on the responsibility from 12 yards and slotted home to ensure his side were level at the break.

However, it was Caen who took charge of the game early in the second half and they should have had a second goal when a corner eventually dropped to Alaeddine Yahia, who could only shoot at Jonathan Ligali on the turn.

Yahia would come even closer later in the match when he rattled the crossbar with a header, before Andy Delort's low effort was pushed past the post by Ligali.

Just as it seemed as though the two sides would be walking away with a point, Caen condemned the visitors to another defeat as Delort's strike bounced back off the post to give Louis the simple task of tapping in with just a few seconds remaining.
