How Brazil could line up against Argentina

Brazil come into Sunday's World Cup Qualifying clash against Argentina with a squad heavily hit by the Premier League's decision not to release players for international games in COVID-19 red-listed countries.

That has forced Tite into nine changes, with midfielders Fabinho and Fred missing out alongside attackers Gabriel Jesus, Roberto Firmino and Richarlison and experienced centre-back Thiago Silva.

The Selecao are also without their two top goalkeepers in the form of Manchester City's Ederson and Liverpool's Alisson Becker, meaning Palmeiras stopper Weverton should again be deployed between the sticks.

In front of him, Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos will partner up alongside Real Madrid's Eder Militao at the heart of a back four, with Juventus full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro rounding off an accomplished defensive line.

Further forward, Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes should again partner Real Madrid's Casemiro in the centre in the absence of Fred and Fabinho, while Everton Ribeiro will be hopeful of earning a starting spot in the wide areas after he came off the bench to hit the winner in their 1-0 victory over Paraguay on Friday.

Vinicius Junior should occupy the opposite flank, after an impressive start to the La Liga season with three goals in the opening three games for Real Madrid.

The line will be led by talisman Neymar, who has netted 68 goals for his nation, while Flamengo forward Gabriel Barbosa will hope to keep hold of his spot amidst competition from Atletico Mineiro's Hulk and new Atletico Madrid star Matheus Cunha.

Brazil possible starting lineup: Weverton; Danilo, Militao, Marquinhos, Sandro; Ribeiro, Casemiro, Guimaraes, Vinicius; Barbosa, Neymar
