Brazil boss Tite has stripped Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar of the captaincy ahead of his side's Copa America campaign.
Neymar was named as the Selecao's permanent skipper a few months after last year's World Cup quarter-final defeat to Belgium.
The 27-year-old has been under the spotlight in recent weeks for disciplinary issues, however, having been suspended by the French Football Federation for an altercation with a Rennes fan following PSG's Coupe de France final loss.
Tite has now taken the decision to hand the captain's armband to Neymar's clubmate Dani Alves.
A statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation said: "Daniel Alves will be captain of the Brazilian national team in the friendly matches against Qatar and Honduras and in Copa America Brazil 2019. The decision was communicated to Neymar by Tite on Saturday."
Neymar has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer following a two-year spell in France with PSG.
