Result: Fabian Johnson rescues point for Borussia Monchengladbach

Fabian Johnson completes his brace late on as Borussia Monchengladbach fight back to earn a 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim.

Fabian Johnson scored a late equaliser as Borussia Monchengladbach fought back to claim a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim this afternoon.

Trailing 3-1 at the break, a second-half fightback stunned the home fans as Gladbach battled to the draw to make it nine games unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

A routine win looked to be on the cards when Gladbach took the lead inside five minutes through Johnson, who timed his run to perfection to collect Mahmoud Dahoud's through-ball before firing home.

Poor marking allowed Hoffenheim to quickly get back on level terms as Steven Zuber found the space to power in his header from a corner.

Gladbach asked most of the questions after the frantic start, but a good chance to regain the lead was wasted when Lars Stindl dragged a shot wide of the post.

Hoffenheim were in front 10 minutes before the break when Eugen Polanski's powerful strike took a deflection on the way to beating Yann Sommer as Gladbach paid the price for remaining vulnerable at the back.

It became a two-goal lead for the hosts two minutes into the second half when Stindl's lazy attempt to find Sommer resulted in him playing in Nadiem Amiri, who took advantage to beat the Gladbach goalkeeper.

A dramatic afternoon continued as Stindl made a vital contribution after his error to deliver a cross to Josip Drmic, who headed home his first league goal of the season to reduce the deficit.

The game opened up as Gladbach searched for an equaliser, but they nearly fell further behind again when Amiri sliced wide after being gifted time on the break.

It looked like Hoffenheim had done enough to secure the win before the late twist arrived as Johnson beat a defender in the box before sending his shot past Oliver Baumann to claim the point.
