Result: Basement side Bolton Wanderers battle back for point

Bolton Wanderers battle back from two goals down to claim a point from the clash of the Championship strugglers away at Charlton Athletic.

Bottom-placed Bolton Wanderers recovered from a two-goal deficit to claim a share of the spoils during their trip to fellow Championship strugglers Charlton Athletic this evening.

A brace from Ademola Lookman within the opening 26 minutes initially looked to have secured all three points for the hosting Addicks, but Bolton hit back before the break through veteran centre-forward Emile Heskey and Josh Vela.

The clock had not even reached the 30-second mark when Lookman broke the deadlock with a low strike that got the better of Ben Amos in the Bolton goal.

The youngster, who is said to have been scouted by Arsenal in recent weeks, then went on to score his third goal of the campaign. Former Bolton attacker Ricardo Vaz Te was the creator, with his low cross picking out Lookman to fire in at the back post.

Yet, just when it appeared that all hope had been extinguished for financially-stricken Bolton, they hit back in the 32nd minute. Former England international Heskey had not scored since Boxing Day last year, but he brought an end to the drought by poking home Liam Feeney's cross.

Neil Lennon's side were now in the ascendancy and they made their domination count two minutes before the break. Zach Clough's strike was cleared as far as Vela 25 yards from goal and the midfielder fired a low shot through a host of bodies and into the bottom corner of Stephen Henderson's net.

Clear openings were sparse after the restart, although Charlton did go close to regaining the lead through Harry Lennon, who saw his headed effort bounce into the ground and then hit the crossbar before the danger was cleared.

The result has left Wanderers six points from safety, while Charlton currently occupy the final relegation spot.
