Result: Bayern Munich storm past Augsburg

Arjen Robben bags twice as Bayern Munich score four second-half goals to cruise to a 4-0 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

Four goals in 13 second-half minutes made the difference as Bayern Munich cruised to a 4-0 victory over Augsburg to continue their unbeaten run in emphatic fashion.

Bayern started brightly, with Arjen Robben a constant threat to the home defence, but the Dutchman missed an early chance to break the deadlock when he dragged a shot wide from the edge of the box.

Pep Guardiola's side dominated for long stages of the first half, with Bastin Schweinsteiger going close on his first Bundesliga start of the season when his header was tipped away by Alex Manninger.

Arguably the best chance of the opening 45 minutes fell to Augsburg, who wasted a great opportunity to take the lead against the run of play as Manuel Neuer was forced into a fine save to deny Tobias Werner.

The lively Robben threatened again before the break with a weaving run at the Augsburg defence, but his path to goal was blocked by the outstretched hand of Manninger.

Bayern were invigorated after the interval, with Xabi Alonso testing Manninger with a firm header before Franck Ribery struck a curling effort just past the post.

The frustration finally came to an end as Bayern stormed ahead with two goals in three minutes to the despair of the hopeful home fans.

Mehdi Benatia climbed highest to powerfully head home the opener from Ribery's free kick, before Robben doubled his side's advantage on the hour mark by picking out the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The Augsburg challenge quickly faded, and they fell further behind when Robert Lewandowski took full advantage of space on the edge of the box to fire past a helpless Manninger.

Robben then grabbed his second of the afternoon by sprinting into the box before slotting another fine effort into the bottom corner, completing Bayern's 15th league game of the season without defeat.
