Preview: Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Bayern Munich - predictions, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews the Bundesliga clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bayern Munich travel to Frankfurt off the back of three successive wins across all competitions, after a blip in form that saw them fail to win either of their previous two.

Eintracht Frankfurt have also been in good form of late, losing just one of their last eight games across all competitions.

Bayern Munich won 2-1 away at 10-man VfL Bochum last time out courtesy of late goals from Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller to extend their winning streak to three successive games.

However, all three wins have been by the odd goal as Bayern have stumbled a little of late, failing to brush opponents aside with their usual efficiency.

In fact, Bayern have won just one of their last seven games by more than one goal - their sensational 7-2 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

All four of their wins before that run were by a three-goal margin at least, scoring 16 goals in those games and conceding just once.

Robert Lewandowski has been in fine goalscoring form, however, despite the slight dip in form of late, breaking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Bundesliga record by scoring in each of the first nine league games of the campaign.

The Polish striker already has a hugely impressive tally of 19 goals for the season across all competitions, despite having played just 15 games.

Eintracht Frankfurt beat St Pauli 2-1 away from home in their last game, with Bas Dost grabbing a brace, and have enjoyed a positive run of form after a mixed start to the campaign.

Last season's Europa League semi-finalists have lost just once in their last eight games in all competitions but have kept just two clean sheets in that period.

Team News

Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac has a number of injuries to contend with, although the returns of Leon Goretzka, David Alaba, Mickael Cuisance and Gnabry have proved a welcome boost.

Kovac is still without Javi Martinez, while Ivan Perisic is a doubt through illness. Jerome Boateng is also a doubt but could be able to start.

Meanwhile, long-term absentees are beginning to pile up with, Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule's injuries leaving the team light on defensive options, while Jann-Fiete Arp is also sidelined with a broken wrist.

For Frankfurt, the list is even longer, with Marco Russ, Danny da Costa and Kevin Trapp all among the list of absentees, while the likes of Makoto Hasebe, Nicolai Muller and Almamy Toure are doubts.

Eintracht Frankfurt possible starting lineup:
Ronnow; N'Dicka, Abraham, Hinteregger; Fernandes; Chandler, Sow, Kohr, Rode; Kamada, Paciencia

Bayern possible starting lineup:
Neuer; Kimmich, Pavard, Boateng, Davies; Thiago, Giretzka; Gnabry, Coutinho, Coman; Lewandowski

We say: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-2 Bayern Munich

Given the depleted nature of both sides, this could be a close-run affair, but Bayern are always favourites in Germany and their quality should see them pick up three crucial points.
