Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits that he "got pretty emotional" to see the crowd spurring the team on during Saturday's 1-0 Premier League win over Norwich City.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that he got "pretty emotional" during his side's 1-0 victory over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners entered gameweek four of the Premier League season boasting zero points and zero goals from three games, and a loss would have seen them match their 98-year-old record of four consecutive defeats from their opening four games.

However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal of the game during a scrappy affair, and Arteta has admitted that the reaction of the crowd got to him during the encounter.

Speaking to the press after the game, the Spaniard said: "I had doubts because I had to read, understand & reflect on different criticism. The club has been open about what we're trying to do, but I just saw incredible fans supporting the team. I'm extremely grateful, I got pretty emotional to see that.

"It was a must-win game and I saw a team out of the blocks straight away, wanted to score and wanted to please everybody."

The Gunners now have a week to recover before next week's trip to Burnley, and Aubameyang has acknowledged that his side must start to be more clinical after scoring just once in 30 attempts on Saturday.
