More medals added to tally as success stories continue.

After the drama of Great Britain’s Magic Monday, the medals continued to come for the team on day four of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

There was further success in the pool as Tom Dean and Duncan Scott made history while Georgia Taylor-Brown took silver in the triathlon and there was bronze in both the gymnastics and dressage.

Here, the PA news agency looks back on another successful day for Team GB and casts an eye towards Wednesday’s medal hopes.

Making a splash

Dean stormed to victory in the men’s 200 metres freestyle and Britain were left to celebrate a famous one-two after Scott collected silver at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

Dean, who twice contracted coronavirus last year, was third heading into the final 50 metres while Scott was down in sixth at the halfway stage, but the pair finished strongly as Team GB occupied the top two steps of an Olympic swimming podium for the first time since 1908.

Taylor-Brown overcame a flat tyre to take silver in the rain-soaked women’s triathlon, with the world champion making up three places in the 10-kilometre run to the finish, while Bianca Walkden, the three-time Taekwondo world champion, recovered from a shock semi-final defeat to win a bronze medal in the +67kg category with a 7-3 victory over Poland’s Aleksandra Kowalczuk.

Britain also claimed bronze in the team dressage final, finishing behind powerhouses Germany and the United States, and there was another bronze in the gymnastics team final as the USA – without the injured Simone Biles – were beaten into second place by the Russian Olympic Committee.

A stunning comeback from the rugby sevens side saw them power past the United States and make the semi-finals, while the women’s football team drew their final Group E match 1-1 with Canada and will now meet Australia in the quarter-finals.

Biles bows out of team final

United States gymnast Biles’ bid to claim her first gold of the Tokyo Games suffered a major setback as she was forced to withdraw after one rotation of the women’s team final due to an unspecified injury.

Biles misjudged her opening vault, scoring 13.766, the lowest of the first rotation, before leaving the floor briefly with the US team trainer.

Although the 24-year-old returned, she put on her tracksuit and did not compete in the Americans’ next apparatus, the uneven bars.

On Sunday, Biles had qualified for every individual apparatus final and she will now be monitored to see if she can compete in those events.

Coming up

Jack Laugher will be looking for more Olympic success

Geraint Thomas will be looking to recover from a crash in the Olympic road race as he aims for gold in the time trial at 0600BST, with the men’s coxless four of Sholto Carnegie, Oliver Cook, Rory Gibbs and Matthew Rossiter aiming for gold in the final at 0210.

Jack Laugher is aiming to retain his gold from Rio as he and new partner Daniel Goodfellow compete in the 3m synchronised diving from 0700, with Charlotte Dujardin back at the equestrian centre for the individual dressage event at 0930.

There could be another day of swimming medals with the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team in action, while Gemma Howell competes for women’s judo -70kg gold.

After their thrilling comeback win over the United States, Great Britain’s rugby sevens side will be looking to progress into the final when they clash with New Zealand in the last four.

Sunday's key events

GOLF
· The men's golf reaches its conclusion, with plenty of players still in medal contention. Home favourite Hideki Matsuyama is one shot off Xander Schauffele's lead, while Great Britain's Paul Casey is another shot further back and Tommy Fleetwood is also in the mix (11.30pm-8am)

SWIMMING
· The final day of swimming action begins with the men's 50m freestyle final. Ben Proud could add to a medal-laden Games in the pool for Team GB so far, although he is up against USA's Caeleb Dressel, who is going for his fourth gold in Tokyo (2.30am)
· From sprint to endurance, Great Britain's second medal hope of the day comes through Daniel Jervis in the men's 1500m freestyle final (2.44am)
· Team GB will again be among the heavy favourites for gold in the last swimming event of the Games - the men's 4x100m medley relay final - having won the mixed event in a world record time on Saturday (3.36am)

BOXING
· Already guaranteed at least a bronze, Pat McCormack takes part in the men's welterweight semi-final against Ireland's Aidan Walsh with a spot in the gold medal final at stake (4.03am)
· Ben Whittaker is also in the semi-finals of the men's light heavyweight and will be looking to continue Team GB's success in the ring (4.51am)

· So often the blue-riband event of the Olympics, the men's 100m final takes place as the world's fastest bid to be crowned Usain Bolt's successor. Three Brits have made it into the semi-finals (11.15am-11.32am), and the final looks wide open after an underwhelming display by favourite Trayvon Bromell on Saturday (1.50pm)
